Modern man only leads a superficial existence empty of a deeper meaning. His life is one of anxiety without points of reference nor values. He lives in fear terrified that one may discover his flaws. He hides his feelings fearing that society might hold them againt him. He hides in a shell, toughening at the touch of others as he believes it makes him look stronger.

His heart turns slowly into stone as does his body.

In this serie « Statue » I chose self-portrait to get in touch with my emotions as deeply as I could. I wanted to describe a lonely being split in two parts, one shaped in a cold and insensitive form by society, the second trying to fight back to keep the warmth of humanity. A half statue half human making one creature.
